My first experience with YSL nail polishes and I must say, I'm impressed. I particularly love the wide bristle brush. Three strokes and I'm done! The formula of these polishes makes them glide onto the nail and distribute evenly. You may be able to get away with 1 coat if you're in a hurry but I prefer 2 coats to get a more opaque and vibrant color. Swatches below are with 2 coats of polish and no top coat.
I picked these up at the Lancome outlet at $8-10 each. I definitely did not need any more nail polish but at more than 60% off retail price, I couldn't resist. I find the Lancome outlet and the Cosmetics Company Outlet are great places to find bargins on higher end makeup (which rarely go on sale) so I always make sure to stop in if I'm near one.
Bright, cheery coral. Makes me long for summer again. This actually reminds me a lot of one of my favorite colors,
Essie Braziliant. Since I'm actually almost out of that, I'm sure this will get lots of use as well.
This color was the hardest for me to photograph. It's more of a bright, fuschia pink and this photo is the closest I was able to capture. An absolutely gorgeous color in person and my favorite out of the three.
This is a dark red color, much darker than the swatch shows on the YSL website. If it wasn't such a good deal, I probably would have passed on this color. I already have a lot of reds and I'm sure some are quite similar to this one. Nonetheless, red nail polish is a staple (for me at least) so I'm happy to add this to my collection.
Clearly, I'm new at the blogging thing. While I've had my DSLR for a few years, I typically only use it when I go on vacations; never really to take close up pictures. It was quite a struggle to figure out the right aperture, ISO, etc. I've also never used Photoshop before now but I found it's great to add some contrast to my photos, brighten up ones that were a tad dark, as well as resize my photos. From what I've read, it's better to shoot underexposed and fix it in the editing process (but perhaps that was just the opinion of that particular blogger). I've got a long way to go before my photos turn out as gorgeous as those I've seen on other blogs but hopefully I'll learn and pick up some tricks along the way!
